Rotary Club of Vijayawada Midtown
Recognizing the need for a dynamic Rotary platform for the younger generation of businessmen and professionals, the Rotary Club of Vijayawada Midtown was envisioned in December 1984. The initiative was inspired by the then District Governor Rtn. G. Mangaraj, who sought to promote a new Rotary club with youthful energy and diverse professional representation.
Rtn. AKI Anjaneyulu, appointed as the Governor’s Special Representative, played a pivotal role in shaping the club. His dedication and vision ensured the formation of a strong, quality membership drawn from varied professions and backgrounds.
The club was officially chartered in 1985, beginning its journey with 33 committed members and a shared dream of service.

A Model That Keeps Members Engaged
As the club expanded, maintaining meaningful engagement became essential. The answer was the innovative club within a club concept — a model that has become the backbone of sustained growth and active participation.
What Does “Club in Club” Mean?
Within the larger Rotary Club of Vijayawada Midtown, members with shared interests come together to form smaller, self-managed groups. These clubs within the club function as focused communities, fostering deeper fellowship, personal connections, and active involvement.
This approach allows every Rotarian to find a space where their passion meets purpose.
Fellowship Through Shared Interests
Midtown Cricket Club (MCC)
Unites cricket enthusiasts through weekly friendly matches and the Midtown Premier League (MPL) — a large-scale tournament that raises significant funds for The Rotary Foundation’s End Polio program.
Midtown Badminton Club (MBC)
Blends fitness and fellowship through regular play and the Midtown Badminton League (MBL), supporting Rotary’s End Polio Now initiative.
Midtown Music Club (MMC)
Brings members and families together twice a year for evenings filled with music, harmony, and joy.
Rotary Means Business (RMB)
A powerful professional networking platform where members showcase their businesses to over 200 Rotarians, leading to collaborations, trust, and new ventures.
Midtown Yoga Club (MYC)
Promotes wellness, mindfulness, and healthy living — because strong communities begin with healthy individuals.
Beer Boys Club (BBC)
A light-hearted fellowship group whose signature Drink-Dine-Dance (D3) event raises funds for Rotary’s global polio eradication efforts.

Simple Structure, Strong Impact
Each club within the club:
- Is self-managed by a small leadership team
- Operates in coordination with the main club board
- Collects a modest annual fee to support activities
For example, the Midtown Cricket Club collects ₹3,000 annually to cover ground rent, equipment, and refreshments — keeping operations efficient and enjoyable.
A Model That Inspires Others
The success of this concept has drawn attention from Rotary District 3020 and beyond. By creating diverse ways for members to connect and serve, the Rotary Club of Vijayawada Midtown demonstrates that when Rotarians bond beyond meetings, Rotary becomes stronger, livelier, and more impactful.
Our Belief
At Vijayawada Midtown:
- Every passion finds a place
- Every member finds meaning
- Every connection strengthens Rotary’s mission
If your club seeks greater engagement and lasting fellowship, the club within a club model could be the spark that transforms your Rotary family.
